Jesus taught me a lot about Being.
Being is different than being something.
Jesus told me everyone wants to be something, as in some thing—that is, they don’t want to Be. They kind of want to turn themselves in to some object of one kind or another so they can be more clearly identified to others as having some kind of importance.
I kind of knew what he meant because we dogs see that about people all the time. We dogs don’t need things except of course food and toys and we certainly don’t need those stupid things people put on us like collars and leashes and cute little pet outfits, but never mind that’s a bit off topic. We dogs never want to be things. Being dogs is great as far as we’re concerned and you can see it all over us in our EFD (Enthusiasm For Dogness. I pride myself on my high EFD.) We have tails to wag in order to signal this and I pointed this out to Jesus, suggesting that maybe He should give humans back their tails, but that one was a no-fly. He said it would just make people think they were monkeys and that would make things even worse and I did kind of see his point.
